(RMG Corp., June 3, 2010) Tecumseh, Ontario - Shares of Exide Technologies (XIDE) rose as much as 22 percent in pre-market trade Thursday, a day after the provider of stored electrical energy solutions posted a quarterly profit that handily beat the consensus view, driven largely by higher sales across its segmentsFor the fourth-quarter ended March 31, Exide reported net income of $40.4 million, 53 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $64.4 million, or 85 cents a share a year earlier. Separately, the company's Chief Operating Officer, Edward O'Leary submitted his resignation effective June 16, 2010. Shares responded well up over 25 percent on over three times the average trading volume.
SonicWALL Inc (SNWL) agreed on Wednesday to be bought by an investor group led by private equity firm Thoma Bravo in a deal the IT security company valued at about $717 million.
SonicWALL shareholders will receive $11.50 per share in cash, a 28 percent premium over the Wednesday's close. In early trading the stock traded up to $11.34 within a percent of the per share offering.
