In the year 1685, Wall Street was founded, after that in 1792; the investment market came into existence, trading five securities. The New York Stock Exchange started as a result of the Buttonwood Agreement. Soon after that the stock market begun gaining securities and prominence such as insurance stocks, bank stocks, government bonds and started trading. When the market got prominence, rules and regulation requirement for right conduct of investing and trading was felt. The New York Stock Exchange and Board was established at Wall Street. The board asked the listed companies to present complete statements of outstanding shares and capital resources. In 1853 stock market crashed for the first time, the loss was 45% of the value; reason they found was collapse of some insurance company. The first cable of transatlantic was founded in the year 1866 which allowed communication between London and New York instantly. The stock ticker was first made in the year 1867 which brought the companies with current prices to all investors. Specialists were made in the year 1872.A trader who is trading only in one stock which makes him sit at one location on the floor where trading happens is a specialist. A suggestion was made in 1895 that the companies should annually produce performance reports to their shareholders. In 1896 another development happened in Wall Street publishing journal form for the first time.

 

‘Roaring Twenties’ bull market began in October 1923 and continued for almost six years. First symptoms of bull market ending appeared March 1925 as a small crash that lead to ‘Selling Avalanche’ the New York daily news. Black Thursday is usually when the bubble of economic bursts resulting in fall of stock prices greatly on a heavy selling day, it happened in October 1929 for the first time. In 1987, October the market crashed and the average of Dow Jones Industrial came down by 508 points resulting in the largest fall in one day. The first online stock trading which happened by use of Internet appeared in August 1994 by a company called K.Aufhauser.
